Izoard Consulting offers freelance legal support on a project basis for the telecommunications, software and payments industries. Our consultants have 25+ years' experience across a number of jurisdictions and have worked in-house and in private practice.

Recent work

· The world's largest submarine cable system build to date (from the UK down the west coast of Africa to Cape Town, from Cape Town up the east coast to Egypt, terrestrial across Egypt and then across the Mediterranean to France and Italy) from RFP stage onwards, including consortium build agreements, marine supply contract, landing party arrangements and ancillary contracts. The system lands in 30+ countries.

· Fibre pair purchase deals and terrestrial network procurement (Ireland, UK, Germany, Netherlands, France, Denmark)

· For US-headquartered Verifone, which supplies card payment terminals and payment gateway services to banks and large retailers: negotiations and agreements for custom software development, for payment gateway and card acquiring services

· For Virgin Media in the United Kingdom (part of the Liberty Global group): Civil engineering and construction contracts: carrier-grade software procurement (both traditional on-premise licensing and saas), technology outsourcing (within and outside the EEA), cross-group negotiation of a wide variety of technology agreements, telco transmission equipment, software, hardware, consulting and outsource providers worked with include Oracle, Salesforce, Accenture, BMC, Huawei, Infosys, Tata Consulting, Tech Mahindra and Ericsson; mediation to avoid adjudication in the Technology and Construction Court, resolution of software licensing and service contract charging disputes

· For the world's largest private subsea network operator: support of transmission capacity on both lease and right of use basis, services agreements, cloud computing solutions, bid tender and RFPs, procurement (across the globe), capex-intensive cable system procurement, marine maintenance agreements, cable landing station agreements, transmission capacity and services deals

· For a NASDAQ-listed software company headquartered in Silicon Valley and a leading provider of electronic design automation and semiconductor intellectual property, software, hardware, design and methodology services and tools for silicon IP customers including AMD, Apple, ARM, BMW, Cisco, Ericsson, Intel and Thales Alenia Space: negotiation and drafting of software and IP licensing and design services contracts with customers in the UK, USA, France, Israel, Russia, the Nordics and Germany, negotiation and drafting of licensed-in third-party intellectual property agreements, IP advice including use of open source software, advice on deal structures to ensure revenue recognition
